Victorian Ruby Pearl Brooch, Wheat Wreath, 15K Gold, Vintage Fine Jewelry
A dainty antique ruby pearl gold brooch that absolutely sparkles. Designed as two ears of wheat reaching towards each other, one full of rubies the other pearls. This would have probably been given to a wife to bless the marriage. Rubies are often used in engagement rings as they signify passion and commitment. Pearls are often sewn into wedding dresses as they are associated with purity and innocence. The Victorians took symbolism very seriously and it is interesting to unravel the message often concealed in their jewelry.
The brooch is secured by an older open clasp. It is not hallmarked, but tests as 15K gold, an older gold standard.
