Scandinavian Silver, Guilloche Enamel Brooch, Danish, Sterling Silver
A beautiful Irridescent Guilloche enamel brooch designed in the late 19th century by the Danish designer Nils Erik Elvik (1853 - 1935). The photos do not reveal the Irridescent nature of the brooch which means the colours fluctuate slightly in the light. The mountain on the left shades from grey towards heather, the lower skyscape often displays a slightly roses appearance, while above the swallows swirl in a grey-blue Sky. The moose and the trees are hauntingly silhouetted against this cold but clear sky.
This is a stunning piece wonderfully made with a lovely scalloped border. Everything about it is very appealing.
It is secured by an older clasp which is very firm and has an interesting barrel hinge. Signed 925S NE
