The artist Hans Zatzka has been inspired by an opera and created this gorgeous vision.  He was a prolific painter and many of his paintings have sold at auction for a good price.  We are fortunate that in the 1900s - 1920s Zatzka released many of his paintings on a postcard medium, enabling him to increase his circle of appreciation.

Hans Zatzka (1859 – 1945) was an Austrian who began his career creating religious frescoes, but his innate talent was for creating historical fantasy pieces.  Often, he would draw inspiration from the works of Richard Wagner and the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.

The subject of this particular postcard was inspired by the opera Waldidylle written by the English composer Alick Maclean (1872 - 1936).  However, it reminds me of Sir Lancelot and his Lady Guinevere to be honest!
